Deputy Wade
Gunslinger 5 · Versatile Human

Deputy Wade is a fixture of Bergum, having arrived twenty years ago during the peak of the silver fever. He’s one of the few who stayed when the mines began to thin out, primarily because he’s too stubborn to admit the easy money is gone. He relies on the quick hands and sharp eyes he developed over the years—first tracking claim jumpers and then reluctantly enforcing the Sheriff’s strained law.
Wade views the current crisis with the Apparitions spilling from the ancient shrine not as a supernatural mystery, but as a severe target prioritization problem. His solution to nearly every issue is to apply maximum pressure and the largest caliber of ordnance he can shoulder. He is utterly without fear, which the townsfolk usually confuse for genuine bravery.
This combination of relentless enthusiasm and a singular focus on overwhelming firepower is precisely why the Sheriff chose him as backup for the Ministry’s investigators. Wade is the highly motivated local expert the Sheriff is most willing to gamble with, hoping his foolhardiness will either result in a quick solution or, at the very least, keep the most destructive deputy occupied outside of town limits.
How this character plays
Wade is a mobile ranged striker built around his Barricade Buster. If he begins an encounter from Stealth, One Shot, One Kill adds 1d6 precision damage to his first successful shot. After that, use Cover Fire to pressure enemy shooters and choose Running Reload when Wade needs to reposition or Covered Reload when he can exploit cover.
Party role: Ranged damage, mobility, and suppressing enemy fire
Best checks: Acrobatics +13, Thievery +13, Stealth +11, and Perception +11
Outside combat, Wade is an agile scout and capable searcher. His Stealth, Thievery, Survival, Hunting Lore, and Thorough Search support reconnaissance and exploration, while his local authority helps the investigators navigate Bergum. He is confident with people, but Giulia or Seamus has stronger specialist skills for delicate medical, technical, or occult problems.
