Inquisitor Giulia
Animist 5 · Versatile Human

Detective Giulia is the lead investigator sent by the Ministry of Obscure Affairs, and she is the picture of reserved discipline. She is a woman of deep insight and authority, preferring silent, keen observation to unnecessary conversation. Having dedicated her life to the study of spiritual phenomena and forgotten rituals, she possesses a profound knowledge of the unseen world.
She is constantly accompanied by a ghostly spirit familiar—a small, luminous animal whose form is always in motion, perpetually circling her like a nervous, living shadow. Giulia finds the fear and bluster of the living—especially the loud insistence of locals—to be tedious and inefficient. She speaks languages used only by spirits and shadows, finding the direct, often tragic testimonies of Apparitions far more honest and straightforward than any dialogue with the living.
She is here to analyze the disturbance at the ancient shrine and enact whichever precise ritual is necessary to return the spirits to their proper rest.
How this character plays
Giulia is the party’s divine spellcaster and supernatural specialist. Her apparition spells give her one slot at each of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rank, so each leveled spell is a meaningful choice: Heal or Harm for immediate impact, Invisibility or Animal Form for adaptation, and Safe Passage or Veil of Privacy for protection. Her staff is a last resort; her spell DC 21 and +11 spell attack are her effective combat tools.
Party role: Divine magic, healing, and supernatural investigation
Best checks: Medicine +13; Nature, Occultism, and Religion +11; Perception +11
Outside combat, Giulia should lead examinations of bodies, spirits, rituals, and magical phenomena. She also knows several languages associated with the unseen world and can bring her familiar into situations where a subtler point of contact helps. Her broad lore and Clever Improviser keep her useful even when a task falls outside her formal training.
